“Mosaic Harmony” at the Byzantine and Christian Museum
Timea Karkiss creates mosaics, imaginative and contemporary artworks, from natural stones and glass paste crafted by the hand, by applying the classical technique of the Roman and Byzantine times. Her works are characterized by an intense, personal character, the selection of bright colors and the distinct grain texture. The mosaics exhibition presented at the Byzantine and Christian Museum until November 22, includes artworks from the past 15 years. Timea Karkiss was born in Budapest, studied Medical Informatics and Computer Graphic at Dennis Gabor IT College but was fascinated by the mosaic art inspired by the collection of mosaics of the Bardo Museum in Tunisia. She decided to dedicate himself to this art and studied at the Friuli School of Mosaic Art (Scuola Mosaicisti del Friuli) in Spilimbergo, Northern Italy. Her artworks are presented in numerous exhibitions around the world.
